The Michaelmas Luncheon and Awards Ceremony - 23 October 2025

The Company was delighted to host the annual awards ceremony after the Michaelmas Court meeting and subsequent luncheon. After many years at Painters' Hall, this year's event was held at Plaisterers' Hall, as we had the largest attendance since 2016. In total, 172 individuals were present at the luncheon.

The Wardens presented several major Company awards along with several other awards from our military affiliates and other blacksmithing organisations.

The Tonypandy Cup 2025

Although this is not awarded every year if submissions do not reach the standard required, this year's award of the Tonypandy Cup was made to Mr Peat Oberon FWCB for his stunning ironwork on the hinges on both sides of a medieval door.

Working as far as possible using the techniques that would have been available at the time, Peat produced some very impressive hinges encompassing both sides of a rather thick and heavy door. According to the owner, the half-ton door opens and closes easily.

Delyth Done MBE CWCB
Lucy Quinnell CWCB

Companion of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths

The last time the Companion award was given out was in 2020. This is not something you can apply for, you are nominated and supported by others.

This is given for outstanding and long service to the craft of blacksmithing and the recipient may not be a working blacksmith.

The Company was delighted to honour both Delyth Done MBE and Lucy Quinnell for their very different but equally significant contributions to the craft over an extended period of time.

Other Award Winners

In the National Blacksmith Competition (Static category), the Reserve Champion was Oliver Drezet and Richard Bent FWCB the Champion. In the Live Category, Joshua Masey AWCB was Reserve Champion with Simon Hall AWCB the Champion.

The Company awarded a Diploma of Merit (AWCB) to David Mitchell and Bronze Medals (FWCB) to Jake Cooper, Ian Parmenter and Rowan Taylor.

The Frank Day Trophy went to Toby Smith, the Camelia Botnar Foundation Cup went to Isaac Butler and the Stanley Allcard Cup went to Bradley Wills.

From our military affiliates, Sub-Lieutenant Olufolahan Douglas RN won the Naval Service Core Values Award, Craftsman Julian Richardson won the Army Blacksmith Cup and the RAF Winged Thunderbolt Award went to Sergeant Josh Stamp.

In addtion, several minor Company awards were given during the year. Certificates of Competence were won by Anna Landreneau, Timothy Nevill and Sam Whittle. Both Dan Parker and Toby Smith took a Journeyman's Certificate.
